HOW TO EXHIBIT

The entire Richard Kelly Archive, including the original exhibit materials, is now housed in the Yale University Library as part of the Manuscripts and Archives collection. These resources are available to researchers outside the Yale community who wish to make use of them. For further information on the Yale Library, go to: http://www.library.yale.edu/mssa/home1.htm

The exhibition, consisting of high-quality, framed giclée prints, scanned from the original materials, is now being made available as a touring exhibit to schools and cultural institutions. General guidelines for the exhibition are included at the end of this booklet.

For more information regarding availability and loan conditions of the exhibit, please email Philip Cialdella

Eleven text panels, written by the original curators, are an intergral part of the exhibit—approximately 11”x17” and 36 caption labels, all mounted on foam core boards. This text is available in Microsoft Word if new text materials are needed. As noted before, the original acknowledgement panel is an integral part of the exhibition and must be shown with it in all venues. Exhibit borrowers may add additional text panels acknowledging local sponsorship and support if desired.

Also in the crates are a minimal number of reprints of an article “The Great Illuminator,” by Philip Cialdella and Clara Powell, published in LD&A Magazine in May 1993.

The works, which are provided with oz-clips on the back of the frames, may be hung on permanent walls or on portable exhibit wall panels, provided by the borrower. Approximately 70’ of wall space is required. If portable exhibit walls are used, eight fabric-wrapped, double-faced 4′ x 8′ show panels, plus twenty similar 16″ x 8′ divider buttresses will be needed.

A lighting system was devised in 1994 to be attached to portable exhibit walls. The system consists of sections of track with a track plug modified to power the track from the top of the display panel.

There are eight 5’ track sections and sixteen fixtures included in the packing crates. The fixtures will accommodate 60W Hybec HY60W/DC frosted lamps.
